Our Work

Rwanda School Supplies

We are happy to report that Bempong Foundation completed its first mission in Rwanda. On May 28, 2009 two delegates from Bempong (Emery Kayiranga and Peter Kitchen) delivered school supplies to Ntarama Primary School. Ntarama is a village located about 30 kms south of Kigali. The village and surrounding area, like many in Rwanda, was badly affected by the 1994 Genocide and poverty is deep. Ntarama Primary School has 335 students in grades 1 to 6.

Bempong delivered a total of $5,000 worth of school supplies including $2,500 brought to Rwanda in suitcases (pens, math sets, pencils cases) and $2,500 purchased in Kigali (back-packs, notebooks and 12 English dictionnaries).

Our thanks to all who helped make this happen and for your continued support of Bempong Foundation.

Among other fundraising objectives, Bempong plans to return to Ntarama Primary School in the near future. Our next event, a gala evening at the University Tabaret Hall on Wednesday April 21, 2010, will raise money for further upgrades to the school.
